Question From A Possible Convert
Hi, my name is Blehrawr, and I am a World of Warcraft Player. (Hi Blehrawr)
Anyway, in an attempt to break my addiction I decided to play Guild Wars. Seems like I'd have more fun in PvP here. Anyway, I was just wondering... do I need to buy all three campaigns to have access to all the different character classes? or, by buying only Nightfall, can I only create a Dervish or a Paragon? And, which of the three campaigns would you recommend for a new player? |

Welcome to Guru
If you buy any of the campaigns you can create any core profession (warrior, elementalist, monk, mesmer, ranger and necro) as well as that campaigns professions (rit and assassin for factions, dervish and paragon for NF). As for which is the best...contentious subject. Some people love each campaign for their own reasons, but if you're mainly interested in PvP I'd go for either Factions or NF, but that's purely personal preference. Anyway, gl with the PvP, hope you have fun |

Hi, Blehrawr!
Any single campaign will give you access to all six core classes: Warrior, Ranger, Monk, Necromancer, Mesmer and Elementalist. Factions will also give you Assassin and Ritualist, on top of those above. Nightfall will also give you Paragon and Dervish, again on top of those above. If it's PvP you're after, then I'll leave the campaign suggestions to someone else, being largely a PvE-er myself ^^ Edit: Beaten to it! Last edited by Torikae; Apr 15, 2007 at 08:04 PM // 20:04.. |

You would not need to buy all the campaigns to have access to all the different professions. There are 6 professions which are available in every chapter regardless of which one you choose to buy. You would only need to buy Nightfall if you wanted to add the Dervish and Paragon to the core 6, and you would only need to buy Factions if you wanted to add the Assassin and Ritualist to the core 6. Therefore, to get access to all 10 professions you would only need to buy Factions and Nightfall.
Although it must be noted that to become a really hardcore PvP player, it's advisable to get all 3 campaigns because of the campaign-specific skills that come in each of them. When looking at the three campaigns and which one might be the best option for a new player, I'll give you a breakdown of the good and not so good parts of each of them (coming from my own experience and opinion). Prophecies: Quite a slow storyline, but gives you plenty of time to learn your chosen profession and gives you quite a few skills as freebies even after you've gone through basic training. A good start for a beginner, and it's where most of us started too. Factions: Fast paced storyline which sees you hitting the level cap very quickly. Any skills you want that you don't get during basic training, you will have to buy (and can be quite expensive if you want to collect every skill). Perhaps not the best starting campaign, but as a PvP primer it's unmatched. Nightfall: Somewhere between Prophecies and Factions in terms of game pace. Allows you to recruit customisable heros to accompany you through the game (which makes PvE much easier). And like Factions, if you want more skills than what you get in basic training, you need to buy them. Also, as it's the most recent campaign it's where you'll probably find most PvE players these days, making it easier to find parties. A great start for a beginner. |

Or, if you are sure you will only PvP, you can buy the PvP only editions from PlayNC https://secure.plaync.com/cgi-bin/St...uage=en#group4
As described, they give you all the skills for each chapter, instead of needing to unlock them through PvP faction points or PvE. Welcome to guru and to the game. |

Thank you all for the kind greeting, happy to know this is a good community.
Thanks for the info, I might end up buying all three like someone suggested, it's better than paying $15 a month in the long run >< |
